How would you describe the Memorial Run racecourse? 
The course is mostly flat on concrete or blacktop utilizing city streets or the Old Town Trail. There are some hills and slopes as the trial consists of a tunnel below the main streets of Herndon and Minnewawa Avenues. It is an out-and-back course.
 

Where do the races start?

All races start at the new Clovis Senior Activity Center’s parking lot located at 735 Third Street Clovis, CA 93612. The kid’s run and senior Walk and Roll will take place in the Clovis Senior Center Parking lot while the 5k and 2-mile start at the same location facing south.

What time do the races start?

The national anthem will be played at 7:25 a.m. and the kid’s race starts immediately thereafter at 7:30 a.m. The senior Walk and Roll starts at 7:40 a.m. The 5K starts at 7:55 a.m. and the 2-mile starts at 8:00 a.m.

Are the races timed?

The 5K is a timed event. The 2-mile walk, kid’s run, and Senior Walk & Roll are fun runs and not timed. However, all participants will receive a medal at the finish line!

Can my 10-year-old participate in the 5K?

Absolutely! While the kid’s run is only for those age 10 and under, anyone can participate in the 5k if they are safely able to navigate the 3.1 mile course. Parents who run the 5K with their children need to register for the 5K as well. 

Will there be awards?

Awards will be given for only the timed 5K event. Prizes will be awarded in 10-year age groups for first and second place male and female. There are no awards for the 2-mile walk, kid’s run, or Senior Walk and Roll but, all participants will receive a medal at the finish line!

The 5K award groups are:

  • 0-10
  • 11-19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70+

Awards for age 0-10 are $5 gift cards, all other age groups will receive a prize. Overall top male and female first and second place winners receive $25-$50 gift cards in addition to the prize they receive in their age group.

Can race packets and shirts be picked up prior to race day?

Packet and shirt pick-up will be available at the Clovis Senior Activity Center (735 Third Street in Clovis) on the following dates:

  • May 23rd and 24th, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • May 25th starting at 7:00 a.m.

Is water available on the course?

Water will be provided for the 5K and 2-mile walk at the 1-mile location. This location provides a mid-point water station for the 2-mile participants a water station at the one-mile mark and the two-mile mark for the 5K runners. While there is no water station for the kid’s race or senior Walk and Roll, every participant will be offered a water bottle at the finish line.

Where does my registration fee go?

Registration fees help offset the cost of the race itself including supplies, the pancake breakfast, t-shirts, administrative costs, trash collection, etc. Proceeds above the cost of the race will go to the Clovis Senior Center to provide programs to seniors.

What does my pre-registration fee entitle me to?

Each participant will receive a race t-shirt, finishers medal, goodie bag, pancake breakfast ticket, and one free raffle ticket. Registrations prior to May 8th will receive the shirt sizes they requested. Registrations after May 8th will choose from a limited quantity of shirt sizes.

Can my family buy pancake breakfast tickets if they aren’t participating in the race?

Yes, additional pancake breakfast tickets are $5.00 each. Race shirts are also available for sale for $17.00 ($20.00 for 2XL-3XL).

Will there be a first aid station?

A first aid station will be available near the Clovis Senior Activity Center.

Can I join the race with a stroller or pet?

Strollers are welcome but please start the race near the rear of the pack. For the safety of others, pets are not allowed on the racecourses, the resource fair, or pancake breakfast. Service animals are welcome.

Does the person who pushes my wheelchair need to pay a registration fee?

You are allowed one attendant to join you on the walk to help you push your wheelchair or assist you during the senior Walk and Roll. The attendant does not need to pay a registration fee but may choose to pay the fee if they want to receive a shirt and pancake breakfast ticket. Shirts and pancake breakfast tickets may also be purchased separately.

What is at the resource fair?

Local companies and organizations will provide information about local area services. There will be giveaways, demonstrations, and raffle tickets for sale for great prizes. Come visit the many sponsors who support our programs.

When does online registration end?

Online registration is available through May 24th, 2024.  Please keep in mind quantities of shirts are limited.

Can I get a refund?

Sorry, but we cannot provide refunds. You may have someone take your place if you can’t make it. Contact us at info@clovismemorialrun.com and we can switch the bib number to another participant.

What if it rains?

We welcome rain! The event is held rain or shine.

Can I volunteer to help?

Like any community event volunteers are needed and appreciated! Volunteers will receive a shirt and pancake breakfast ticket. Please email info@clovismemorialrun.com about your desire to help!
