We are thrilled you will be joining us for our event. This is a race to honor the seniors and veterans in our community. The proceeds from the event go toward improving the Clovis Senior Center library.
In order to honor our active military and veterans on Memorial weekend, they may participate in the events at no charge if they register prior to May 19, 2013. Every participant receives a polyester dry-weave fabric race shirt, goodie bag, pancake breakfast ticket and raffle ticket for some great prizes.
All age groups and fitness levels are welcome and we have an event for everyone! You can participate in the timed 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk or if that’s a bit far for you then join the non-competitive 2-mile walk. Kids can participate in a ½ mile kid’s run and senior citizens can participate in the ½ mile Senior Walk and Roll. Seniors are welcome to walk the ½ mile, “roll” in a wheelchair, or be pushed in a wheelchair (their attendant can walk for free). Neither the kid's run, the 2-mile walk, or the Senior Walk & Roll are timed, they are just for good family fun for all ages.
The first race starts at 8:00 a.m.; please see detailed event day schedule for specific times for each run/walk. The pancake breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. In addition to the activities, a resource fair will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the Senior Center from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on race day. Vendors will provide information for veterans, seniors, and their families. A raffle for fantastic prizes will be held following the 10:30 a.m. awards ceremony. Each registered participant will receive one raffle ticket; additional tickets are available for $1.00.
As one of our seniors said, “it will be a fun way to spend the morning and get some exercise.” We look forward to seeing you here!
